The criteria for nomination for the title of Honorary Citizen of Filey must be to acknowledge outstanding service and commitment to the community of Filey and it offers no material honours or special privileges, nor does it entitle the person to participate in the proceedings of the council meetings or in any ceremonial events, it is purely and simply for merit.

Nominations.

Any nominations for living persons to be considered for the title of Honorary Citizens of Filey will be considered by members of the Town Council in January 2019.

The deadline for nominations is 31 December 2018

Mr Edward Robert Temple MBE and Mr David Wilson were honoured by the Town Council at a special presentation evening held on 11 July 2014 and were both awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Filey together with a Badge of Honour and an Award Certificate presented by the Town Mayor of Filey. Their names have been added to the ‘Honorary Citizen of Filey Board of Honour’ which is housed in the Council Chamber
